Starting Your Journey Toward Dental Health

We believe a comprehensive examination, including a thorough tooth, gum, oral cancer, and jaw check, is the best way to treat people holistically. Without a complete exam, treatment can be performed, but pieces of the puzzle might be missed, leading to less-than-optimal outcomes.  

Our comprehensive examination includes all x-rays, photos, diagnosis and a written treatment plan with all costs. The examination costs $85 or no-gap if you have a health fund.

Your first dental visit will take place in four stages:

#1 The Welcome Discussion

We take a collaborative approach to helping you. We need to take the time to understand your situation rather than push our views on you.

We will discuss your dental journey so far and where you want to go in the future. We will discuss what you like and don’t like so we can tailor our service to you.

This first examination stage is performed outside the dental chair in a comfortable, safe environment.

#2 A Thorough Examination

The examination includes:

  • An accurate charting of all current healthy teeth, any lost or missing teeth, current dental work including fillings, dental crowns, bridges, implants and dentures, and any damaged teeth with decay, fractures and wear
  • An accurate charting of all periodontal tissues for signs of gum disease or gingivitis.
  • A thorough examination of the jaw joint (temporomandibular joint or TMJ) for any clicks, popping or signs of TMJ degeneration
  • An oral cancer exam with a comprehensive look at all soft tissue surfaces, including your throat, lips, cheeks, tongue and floor of mouth
  • A radiographic examination with all x-rays (we don’t charge for x-rays; they are free) to look for hidden concerns under old dental restorations or between teeth, such as decay, infection, abscesses and other issues with the jaw, nose or sinuses
  • A full set of photographs of your mouth serves as a baseline record and shows you what we can see

#3 Explanation of Findings

Returning to the safe, non-clinical environment, we will discuss our findings in plain language. We will focus on the cause of any problems rather than the fix to ensure we can prevent similar issues in the future.

At our Clayfield dental surgery, we offer a full range of services to help you with all of your concerns. Multiple treatment options are usually available for dental problems. These will be outlined, and you can choose the best option for your circumstances.

#4 Payment Options

Once you decide on an appropriate treatment plan, you will receive a complete written plan and quote (that doesn’t change) with all costs. Our friendly team will schedule any additional visits needed and walk you through the process step by step. You can either pay upfront at each appointment or use our interest-free direct debit payment plans to get the treatment now but spread the cost over time.
